Engine off. Lights out. Just the sky.
We sail out beyond the reach of the shore lights, cut the engine and switch off the deck lamps. On a clear winter night off Cascais the sky opens up — Orion, the Pleiades and Sirius, all there to the naked eye, with no city glow to wash them out.
Your skipper points out how sailors once found their way by these same stars, long before there were instruments to do it for them. There is a warm bowl of soup in your hands and nothing but the sound of the water.
Because it depends on a clear sky and the right phase of the moon, this experience runs on a small number of nights each month. Dates are limited — please check availability before you book.

Frequently asked questions
Why are dates limited?
The experience depends on a clear sky and a dark moon, so we only run it on a handful of suitable nights each month. Please check availability before booking, and we will find you the best date.
What if the sky clouds over on the night?
If conditions turn unsuitable we reschedule at no cost. We would rather move your date than take you out under cloud.
Do I need to know anything about astronomy?
Not a thing. Your skipper does the pointing, and you keep the star map afterwards.
Will it be cold with the engine off?
It can be, which is exactly why there are blankets, foul-weather gear and warm soup on board. Bring a windproof jacket.
Is the boat private?
Always. The night is yours alone. There are no shared departures.
Do I need any sailing experience?
None. Your skipper handles the boat throughout.
